Adventure made comfortable: 5 bold movies tips

Even eternal adventurers and outdoor explorers need some quality time inside from time to time. All the eagerness and hours spent getting lost in the wilderness bring us the pleasant feeling of tiredness, which sometimes just makes us want to curl up on a couch in the coziness of our own home.

These tired nights following the exciting days in nature call for a really good movie.

Let us present you with the list of the top five movies perfect for any adventurer. Ranging from fiction pictures set in beautiful sceneries, across thrilling real-life stories, all the way to a couple of documentaries that will teach you what you yet haven’t learned. There’s something for every outdoor lover here.

Into the wild

Let’s kick this list off with a classic. Into the wild is a movie from 2007 depicting a bold decision made by a college graduate Christopher McCandless to leave his comfortable life behind and embark on a journey, you guessed it, into the wild. This film is based on a true story of a man who crossed North America just to end up in the Alaskan wilderness and give his life another form of meaning. We’re sure many of you have already seen it but even if you have, this piece of art definitely deserves a second watch!

Encounters at the End of the World

One of the many amazing things movies offer us is the possibility to investigate places we haven’t been to before. And some places are not that easy to visit, such as for instance Antarctica. This alluring continent is explored by filmmaker Werner Herzog in his 2009 movie Encounters at the end of the world. Explore the beauty of Antarctica’s flora and fauna as well as the characters of locals from the comfort of your own home.

Raging Bull

The lives of professional athletes and sportsmen may seem fun on the outside but there is a layer of untold truth that is worth seeing as well. Raging Bull is a film from 1980, where Robert DeNiro tries on the shoes of an American-Italian boxer Jake LaMotta. You’ll get to see how this man’s self-destructive behavior might have been useful in making him a pro in the ring but turned fatal to his personal relationships. This movie might not be for everyone but is definitely a marvelous piece of cinematic biographies.

127 Hours

We probably don’t have to tell you that there is quite a lot of danger to exploring the wild if you're not being careful enough. Sometimes it’s enough if you’re a bit out of luck and your adventure could turn into a nightmare. This is exactly what happened to Arol Ralston, an American outdoorsman, who got trapped under a boulder when crossing the Blue John Canyon in southeast Utah. Based on his experience, the movie 127 hours, representing the frightening time period of Ralston’s struggle, was created in 2010. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and you’ll finish with a feeling of gratefulness that this wasn’t you.

David Attenborough: A life on our planet

If there’s someone on this planet who has explored the utmost corners of it, it’s certainly David Attenborough. And in his documentary from 2020, he’s sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. Narrated in a form of his own autobiography, A Life on our Planet is a documentary showing the enormous changes our planet underwent in recent years. Although this is a definite call to action for our fight against climate change, this film will not leave you hopeless. On the contrary, you’ll gain knowledge, motivation and an overall good feeling after watching an amazing picture.

Put aside your outdoor gear, change from your hiking shoes into comfy socks and make some popcorn. With these amazing cinematographic acts, a pleasant evening is guaranteed!
